Rugby

Rugby practices are held every week for all interested students from Grades 3 upwards.

Logos College Rugby has been in existence since 2016 and has fielded three teams, namely Under 16, Under 12, and Under 10. The late Pastor Shehan Latiff initially coached all three teams extremely well and was much loved by all the students. Following him, Logos College was fortunate to obtain the services of Mr. Thomas as coach, with Rev. Father Lalith assisting with the Juniors. Much effort has been put in by these gentlemen to bring Logos Rugby to its present standard. Logos Rugby has played a number of friendly matches against AGoal Rugby Academy and a few school teams too. Recently Logos Rugby played against the Race Course Rugby Academy and acquitted themselves very well, winning by a comfortable margin. We also played against the junior teams of Royal College and emerged winners in most of the matches played.

At the end of the first term of 2019, we had a Rugby Carnival where the players pitted themselves against their collegues in frinedly six aside matches and showed their skills at playing tournament Rugby.

Thanks to the financial support of parents of players, we have acquired Rugby jerseys and stockings for our teams. Recently new jerseys were presented to all players with the kind donation extended to us by a well-wisher Logos Rugby has a long journey ahead of them, but through hard training and practice a very bright future.

Captains are chosen on a match by match basis depending on performance and attendance.

Mr. Johann Perera
Master in Charge.
